LA lives and breathes film. And though I’m not one to get excited by the latest blockbuster release or celebrity spotting on the streets of hollywood, it is home to some of the leading sound pros in the biz. As an ADR engineer, I regularly link up to studios in LA, so I thought I’d stop by to visit a couple of my regulars - Warner Bros and Buzzy’s.

The Grand tour of the Warner Bros backlot was indeed grand. I lost count of the number of dubbing studios, however the Eastwood scoring stage (yes Clint) was truly memorable. Comparatively Buzzy’s is a boutique studio but with a big reputation. Famous for recording for animation, the walls are adorned with words of thanks from the best voice talent to ever live such as June Foray and Mel Blanc.

These facilities welcomed me to observe several sessions and exchange knowledge and experiences. I have definitely come back to Aus with some fresh perspectives and handy tricks to implement.
